Water carbonation is the effective chemical principle behind SoluCalc®

SoluCalc® uses a classic, well-known chemical reaction: carbonation.

How does carbonation work in water?

  • Hard water is highly charged with lime scale (calcium carbonate) which dissolves very little in water.
  • When CO2 comes into contact with lime scale (calcium carbonate), it forms calcium bicarbonate (also called hydrogenocarbonate) which is 70 times more soluble than lime scale.
  • Water carbonation is the origin of the creation of caves and we apply it to the field of potable water
  • Lime scale, which is made soluble by CO2, remains integral to water throughout its circuit as long as it isn’t completely evaporated.
  • The formula that explains the action of SoluCalc =  CaCO3 + CO2 + H2O → Ca (HCO3) 2
